What is Spoof Text?

Spoof is a text which tells factual story, happened in the past time with unpredictable and funny ending. Its social function is to entertain and share the story.

2. Events
3. Twist

Language Feature of Spoof
1. Focusing on people, animals or certain things
2. Using action verb; ate, ran, etc
3. Using adverb of time and place
4. Told in chronological order

Private Conversation
Last week I went to the theatre. I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting.I did not enjoy it. A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. They were talking very loudly.I got very angry. I could not hear the actors. I turned around. I looked at the man and the young woman angrily. They did not pay any attention.In the end, I could not bear it. I turned around again. “I could not hear a word” I said angrily.“It’s none of your business” the young man said rudely. “This is a private conversation”

Generic Structure Analysis
Orientation: introducing a writes as point of view “I” which is in a theatre last week
Event 1: the other theatregoers, young man and young woman, were talking noisily.
Event 2: the writer used physical language by turning around to the young man and young woman talk to not to make noisy.
Event 3: the write used verbal language by saying “I could not hear a word”.
Twister: the young man misunderstood the writer’s word and said; “It’s none of your business. It’s a private conversation”.


EXAMPLE OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
 
Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis is a beautiful old seaside town, with a lovely little harbor, beaches, and lovely walks, either by the sea or the country nearby. Here, the people will get exciting experience and happy feeling as soon as they arrives because there are many kinds of beautiful and amazing buildings. For children there is Marine Aquarium and Dinosaur land, and in summer you can escape from the crowds and relax at the Jane Austen Gardens with beautiful views over the sea.
There are many interesting old street with cafes and restaurant. If we got hungry after took a walk around Lyme Regis, we can go eating delicious cuisines at some restaurant that placed in some parts of this town. The best restaurant is the Pilot Boat down by beach, which has very good food and wine.
Why this text called descriptive??
      Use Simple Present Tense
      Because it talks about something in specific (in this case it talked about Lyme Regis town)
      It describes the part, characteristics, and qualities of Lyme Regis Town
      There are being/having verbs (escaping,walking, eating)
      The descriptive text mostly talks about particular person, place, or things (Here, it talks about particular place)
Using adjectives (exciting, amazing, beautiful, etc)


EXAMPLE OF REPORT TEXT
Platypus
The platypus is a semi aquatic mammal endemic to eastern Australia including Tasmania. It’s one of five extinct species of monotreme, the early mammal that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. The body and the broad flat tail of this animal are covered with dense brown fur that traps a layer interlarding hair to keep the animal warm. It uses webbed feet and large rubbery snout. There are features that are closer to the duck than to those any known mammal. Weight varies considerably from 0.7 to 2.4 kilograms with males being larger than female. A male average is 15 centimeters total length while the female measures approximately 45 centimeters. The platypus has an average body temperature of 32°C rather than to 37°C that is typical to bush-settled mammals.
                                                                                                                      



Why this text called Report??
Use Simple Present Tense
Because it talks about something general part (in this case it talks about an animal: Platypus)
This text talks about factual things, not the unreal things but it tells the truth about animal Platypus
There are scientific elements in making a report
No personal pronouns used (like I, you, we, etc) because there is no personal involved. In this case, only Platypus involved
